I restored this bench for The Friends of the Settle & Carlisle Line. When I first collected the bench from Ingrow Station on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway it had been stored under a tarpaulin in fairly damp conditions for years and was completely infested with moth larvae as I found when I stripped off the seat covering. All the stuffing and springs were beyond re-use so were discarded. I made the usual structural repairs and made a new moulding for the front rail of the bench which you can see clamped on in one of the pictures. After structural repairs we stripped and re-polished the bench prior to re-upholstery. Finally in the last picture you can see the bench in its new home in the waiting room on the north bound platform of Settle station.
